Party City Opens for Business in Monroe New York

Party City, America's largest discount party supplies retailer, has now expanded into Monroe, New York.

In late September, Party City launched a store in Monroe, just in time for the Halloween shopping spike. Halloween costume sales are a large portion of Party City's annual business, and Party City has hired more than 10,000 temporary workers nationwide to serve as customer support representatives, greeters, cashiers, stockers, and in other roles.

"The creation of new jobs is critical as the economy continues to recover," said Lisa Laube, President of Party City. "Our efforts to create jobs serve a dual-purpose: To provide people with opportunities to utilize their skills in today's downtrodden job market, and to provide shoppers with exceptional customer service during the busy Halloween season."

Even during the recession, Party City continues to expand, having opened five franchises in the past two months alone. New Party City stores have gone into Humble TX, Irving TX, Carbondale IL, and Carmel IN, and Party City's online division has grown as well, recruiting new staff to a number of positions and broadening the scope of PartyCity.com.
