According to a report by the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago production of Billy Elliot the Musical would be making an early closing in the city. The show which was originally supposed to run throughout the holiday season would now be wrapping it all up by the end of the month of November. The news comes as a surprise to some of the fans who were not excepting to bid an early farewell to the production. According to Steve, an upset fan, the early closing is "off putting" since the holiday season is already here and he had planned on buying tickets before the start of December. “I was hoping to take my wife to the show, as an early Christmas present”, he says, “Now with the early close, everybody would be rushing to buy the tickets, making them much harder to find”. Scott Briggs at TicketLuck.com has confirmed the phenomenon. “Billy Elliot Tickets are hot items”, says Briggs, “and the early closing has boosted the sales for sure.” As per Briggs, the early closing of the show in Chicago has also triggered a chain reaction. “Fans who are awaiting the arrival of Billy Elliot In Minneapolis and other cities,” he adds, “are also booking their tickets in advance.” While the reasons for the early closing remain unclear, one thing can be said for certain – a boost has been given to the sales of tickets for Billy Elliot In Houston as well, according to TicketLuck.com and other ticket selling websites, even though the show does not begin in Houston until the end of Feb, 2011.
