We were spending too much time questioning high shipping charges and mysterious “handling charges” on our purchases.” He added “It was difficult to get a handle on our true cost when we received out of line shipping charges and handling charges from our vendors. The handling charges,” he continued “ really offended us. We figure that if you are in business to sell product and after you sell it you must deliver it, then your shipping department is part of your overhead. Not a profit center. We thought our customers felt the same way. While we never have charged any of the handling fees, we thought including shipping in our most common items would help the customer know their true and final cost.
